As the world’s leading conservation organization, the WWF works to preserve Earth’s life and ecological systems by protecting natural areas and wild populations of plants and animals. This past year’s contribution went toward protecting the habitats of Mountain gorillas in the Congo and endangered Sumatran and Bornean orangutans.
Part of our contribution also went toward Human Rights Initiatives, including working with mothers and children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to build healthier sanitation habits and improve their health. It’s part of a larger PHE (People, Health, and Environment) Initiative, which incorporates indigenous and women’s rights into conservation plans. We are glad to support a cause that’s contributing to a better future.
In addition to our global causes, DRS also contributes on a local level. In our most recent efforts, we donated our time to the TreePeople, a nonprofit group that works on creating a sustainable future for Los Angeles. The TreePeople are important to us because they’re in our own backyard. We’ve watched them grow from a small group planting trees to a whole learning system and community resource center. From maintaining hiking trails to keeping the air a little cleaner, they’re a valuable community service in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, and we are proud to do our part to help.
